Primary school ICT teacher. I build digital resources that give children more authorship, voice, and autonomy over their own learning.
I work with pre-school and primary school children in Funchal, Madeira. I'm interested in how technology can help them think, create, collaborate, communicate, and regulate their own work.
Who I am
Three facets, one path
teacher
I've worked at Colégio Infante D. Henrique, in Funchal, since 2006 — first as a primary school teacher and, since 2009, teaching ICT as part of curricular enrichment activities, across every primary class in the school.
pedagogue
I value active learning pedagogies, project work, cooperation, autonomy, and formative assessment. I aim to create situations where students can investigate, build, experiment, explain, share, and improve their work with their peers.
tech maker
I explore programming, Linux, Python, responsible AI, Minecraft Education, robotics, and digital tools for concrete school problems — small solutions that help students and teachers organise the learning process.
I use technology as a means to give children more authorship, voice, and autonomy — not as an end in itself.
Principles
What guides the work
My practice draws on the Modern School Movement (MEM): the way a classroom is organised also teaches, and the tools — digital or paper — must serve the goals they announce.
cooperation
Only cooperation builds autonomy. Students learn from one another, and each one's work is visible and useful to the whole class.
differentiation
Each child follows their own path — within shared structures, not in isolation. The centre is the students' learning work, not simultaneous teaching.
formative assessment
Assessing is part of learning, not the final step. Work plans, class diaries, and records help each student see where they are and what comes next.
communication
Work is made to be shown. Presenting, explaining, and taking feedback from peers is part of every project's circuit.
Now
What I'm working on
Right now most of my time goes to História do Dia — the educational reconstruction of an archive of 366 stories —, the training platform for the Regional Math Games Championship, and a way of bringing chess into primary school classrooms.
